The experience of representing Barcelona

What was your experience representing Barcelona at Miss Intercontinental Barcelona?

“Representing Barcelona is an honor and a great opportunity to highlight its beauty and potential. Miss Intercontinental Spain has connected me with other more experienced contestants, who have helped me improve my communication skills and build my confidence. It has also motivated me to continue learning about both personal development and beauty.”

The impact of beauty pageants

What values do you think a competition like this brings to the women who participate and the audience that follows it?

“The experiences and learning you gain when you participate in a pageant are indescribable. Contrary to what many people think, it's much more than a physical beauty competition; it promotes female empowerment, self-confidence, and the importance of working toward our dreams. They teach us to be persistent, to collaborate with other women, and to be role models for future generations, offering a positive message about authenticity, discipline, and diversity.”

Beauty with a purpose: skin activism

In a world that sometimes associates these contests with superficiality, how do you think they can contribute to important causes or make a positive impact?

“Despite the stereotypes, I can attest firsthand that pageants have the potential to go beyond aesthetics, even becoming a driving force for change. Many participants help transform the perception of 'being beautiful' and promote important causes such as gender equality, mental health, and the environment.”

The concept of "skin activism"

OhMyKoko is the first skin activism brand. What does the concept of “skin activism” mean to you?

"For me, 'skin activism' is an approach that goes beyond traditional cosmetics. It means a commitment to skin wellness, with the utmost respect for the environment and promoting transparency and ethics. This movement seeks to protect your well-being and that of the planet equally, making self-care part of a larger cause."

OhMyKoko's favorite product

If you could choose one OhMyKoko product to recommend to your followers, which one would it be and why?

"Without a doubt, facial cleanser. The most important step in my skincare routine is cleansing before and after applying makeup. It's a natural, multifunctional treatment: it cleanses, exfoliates, and removes makeup, saving a lot of time. It's gentle on my sensitive, atopic skin and also leaves a soft, glowing finish. It's one of my essentials and the one I recommend most."

The connection between mind and skin

You're studying Psychology, a field deeply connected to well-being. How do you think the mind and skin are related?

“Mental health is directly related to our skin. Stress, anxiety, and other emotional issues can manifest physically, affecting our skin. For example, stress can trigger outbreaks of acne, psoriasis, or eczema. Therefore, a holistic approach that considers both emotional and physical well-being is essential for healthy skin and overall balance.”

Beauty and self-esteem in a world of standards

From your perspective as a future psychologist, what impact do you think beauty standards have on self-esteem, and how might we foster a healthier view of beauty?

“We were just discussing in class the other day about the beauty standards imposed by the media. We came to the conclusion that these have a negative impact on self-esteem, creating insecurities and promoting unrealistic comparisons. It's crucial to foster a more inclusive and diverse vision of beauty, where everyone feels accepted just as they are. Promoting self-compassion, acceptance of diversity, and a focus on emotional well-being can help people build a healthier relationship with their bodies and their image.”

Balancing studies, the contest and personal life

How do you manage the balance between your studies, the competition, and your personal life?

“The key is organization. Every week I update my agenda and plan my schedule. Having a clear plan allows me to dedicate enough time to my studies, training for the competition, and spending quality time on myself or with family and friends. It's true that, like everything, it involves a certain amount of sacrifice; I've had to reject many plans to avoid overloading myself. This balance allows me to move forward and keeps me motivated and focused on my goals.”

Advice for young women with big aspirations

What advice would you give to young women who aspire to excel in their careers and personal care?

“My advice is to never stop learning and growing. Education and self-care should be priorities and are 100% compatible. It's important to have confidence in your abilities and maintain a positive attitude when faced with challenges. You should always give your all in everything you do and pursue what you want until you achieve it. All this without neglecting your mental health; emotional balance is essential for success and well-being in all aspects of life.”

True beauty starts from within

What does the phrase “beauty begins from within” mean to you?

“True beauty doesn't depend solely on what we see in the mirror. The way we feel about ourselves, our emotions, values, and inner thoughts are reflected on our exterior and are what truly make us beautiful. Taking care of our mental health, cultivating inner peace, and genuine self-esteem are the foundation for projecting authentic and lasting beauty.”
