In "We Talk With," we sit down with Dayana , a professional model, runway instructor, and advocate for authentic and conscious beauty. Her story is an inspiration of discipline, self-love, and female empowerment. In this interview, she talks about her passion for teaching, the power of the runway, and how natural beauty can transform the way we present ourselves to the world.
How did you discover your passion for the catwalk and what led you to become a fashion show instructor?
I discovered my passion for the runway at a very young age: I was just 4 years old when I started in this world. My love for modeling and fashion led me to be consistent and very disciplined. At 16, I became a professional model and soon after, a runway instructor. I also have a degree in Early Childhood Education, and for me, teaching is a gift I hold dear to my heart. I deeply enjoy sharing knowledge, watching my students grow, and guiding them to discover their potential. Teaching is my vocation, my passion, and my way of leaving a lasting impression on each person I mentor.

What is the most important thing you try to convey to those who prepare with you for a beauty pageant?
My goal will always be to help each participant discover and project their own essence. It's not just about walking well, but also about conveying confidence, elegance, and authenticity with every step. I want them to understand that their presence on the runway is a powerful tool to communicate who they are and what they stand for, on and off the stage.
"The catwalk isn't just about walking, it's about telling your story with attitude and confidence."
From your experience, what makes a person really stand out on a catwalk?
Over the years, I've learned that standing out on the runway isn't just about technique, but about the confidence, attitude, and authenticity you project. You can have a flawless walk, but what really captures attention is conveying confidence, command of the space, and a genuine connection with the audience. Your gaze, posture, rhythm, and personal energy make all the difference.

How do you train your attitude and self-confidence?
Discipline, consistent practice, and strengthening self-esteem are key. These tools help us transform nerves into confidence and weaknesses into strengths. True beauty is impactful when it is born from inner security.

What do you think about natural beauty in the world of pageants and fashion?
Natural beauty represents authenticity and self-love. It's not about meeting a standard, but rather highlighting the best in each person without losing their essence. Although pageants have evolved, aesthetics and personal care remain important criteria.
How does personal care influence your style of parading and stage presence?
When someone takes care of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally, it's reflected in their posture, their energy, and their relationship with the audience. Feeling good about themselves boosts confidence, and that confidence is evident in every step, in their gaze, and in their demeanor on the runway. Stage presence is built not only through technique, but also through the value each person places on themselves.
“It doesn’t matter your height or your measurements: your attitude, your strength, and your authenticity matter.”
Do you think the catwalk can be a form of female empowerment? Why?
Definitely yes. The runway allows every woman to recognize, value, and express herself with confidence. It's not just a walk: it's a statement of presence, strength, and identity. When a woman owns the stage, she shows that she believes in herself, that she has a voice, and that she deserves to be seen and heard. The runway, when properly guided, transforms insecurities into personal power.

What beauty or skincare rituals are a must in your daily routine?
I start every morning by prioritizing my physical and mental well-being, which are essential to me. My facial routine includes a good cleanse, moisturizer, and sun protection. I don't usually wear makeup every day; I prefer fresh, glowing skin. I also enjoy exercising and maintaining a balanced diet. For me, taking care of my skin is an act of self-love: beauty starts from within and is reflected in how we take care of ourselves and present ourselves to the world.
“Beauty begins with healthy skin: that's why I always choose cosmetics that don't damage, that care for and protect.”
What value do you place on natural and vegan cosmetics in the world of beauty?
I believe natural and vegan cosmetics are a more conscious and respectful way to take care of ourselves. Not only are they kinder to our skin and health, but they also reflect an ethical commitment to the environment and animals. In a world where beauty is moving toward authenticity and sustainability, choosing natural and vegan products aligns our outward appearance with our values.
What do you think about using non-toxic products on the skin, like those from OhMyKoko, especially when working so much with image?
Our skin is our canvas and our protective barrier; that's why it's vital to care for it with ingredients that won't damage it in the long run. In the world of beauty, where appearance is part of the job, maintaining healthy and balanced skin is key to flawless makeup and an authentic appearance. Choosing safe products protects our health and demonstrates a commitment to overall well-being.
What would you say to those who think beauty pageants are just superficial?
Today, beauty pageants are platforms for showcasing intelligence, skills, personality, and values. They promote important causes, generate social change, and empower women. Physical beauty is only one aspect: what is truly valued is character, determination, and the impact each person can make. Pageants are a powerful tool for breaking stereotypes and redefining what it means to be beautiful.
“The parade is a metaphor for life: you have to keep moving forward, even if you stumble.”
Have you seen an evolution in your students beyond the catwalk?
Yes. I've seen how my students not only improve their technique and stage presence, but also develop greater self-confidence. The runway becomes a tool for them to recognize themselves as strong, authentic women capable of facing any challenge. This transformation gives them a new perspective on their worth and potential.
